First 2019 training session a big success for the Swannies as 70+ turnout

The London Swans 2019 pre-season began with a bang last week as over 80 people turned out to Regents Park for the first training session of the year!

A host of new players joined in the session with players from Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany and France involved.

Alongside all of the new players were a couple of surprise appearances from Swannies veterans including former Swans player and Great Britain AFL Captain Sam Worthington who was on holiday in the UK….from Australia.

The Swannies coaches – Chris Loy (Men’s), Mike Condello, Ian Ash, Kirk Kinne and Luke McManus (Women’s) – were all on hand to take the impressive turnout through a variety of basic skills drills with a 20 minute base fitness session at the end.

After the session, the Swannies all headed back to a nearby pub, The Edinboro Castle, for some rehydration as well as a good chance to get to know their new teammates better.

When is the next training? And how can I get involved?

The next session is this Saturday (19 January 2019) at Regents Park (the top north-east corner, marked on the map below) from 10.30am-12.30pm.

Coaches will be on hand from 10am with the footballs to help with skills and having a kick. All are welcome to attend and we expect to start at 10.30am sharp.

Following the session we’ll all be heading back to The Edinboro Castle again for a beer and social get together.
